MOROKO COMMUNITY SCHOOL

The focus for SERAC’s(The Social and Economic Rights Action Center based in Lagos, Nigeria) site is heavily based on community development as well as preservation. I had a great interest in using materiality to shape interactions on campus. The overall scheme of the plot of land is based on security of the school children. Surrounded by major roads such as the Lekki Expressway, it is projected that there will be much traffic in the area. The school and residence hall are located in the north central area, where the campus is enveloped by residential complexes. This serves as an additional layer of safety from outside civilians and also mitigates the noise from the roads. This project leverages local talent and resources to create a space that directly impacts the quality of life of the community’s inhabitants.
